João Sanches, General Manager of Meliá Madeira Mare Hotel, has been honoured with the Silver Medal of Tourism Merit – Career Award, presented by the Regional Government of Madeira in recognition of his decades-long career dedicated to the hospitality and tourism sectors.

The distinction recognises a career marked by leadership, a strong commitment to quality and a focus on enhancing the guest experience. Since taking the helm of Meliá Madeira Mare in 2012, João Sanches has played an important role in strengthening the hotel’s position and consolidating the quality of the services it provides.

Throughout his professional career, he has also contributed to the development and recognition of Madeira’s hospitality sector, leaving a significant mark on the region’s tourism landscape.

The Silver Medal of Tourism Merit – Career Award therefore represents public recognition of a professional journey dedicated to hospitality and tourism, as well as of João Sanches’ contribution to the sector in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
