HOTI HOTÉIS ANNOUNCES THE OPENING OF TWO NEW UNITS LABELLED “THE MOST PORTUGUESE HOTEL IN THE WORLD”

CONCEPT WILL BE PRESENTED AT ALIMENTARIA & HOREXPO LISBON
Yesterday, on May 4th at the Star inn Lisbon hotel, The Hoti Hotéis group signed a partnership with the AIP Foundation for the development of “The Most Portuguese Hotel in the World”. The concept will be presented at the Alimentaria & Horexpo Lisbon fair, which will take place on June 4th, 5th and 6th at FIL, Parque das Nações, to showcase the excellence, diversity and innovation of Portuguese products, brands and services.

Within 2 years, the Hoti Hotéis group intends to progress with the opening of two hotels that respond to this concept, one in Lisbon and another in Porto, resulting in an investment of around 12 million euros per hotel.

The agreement established between the two entities aims, on the Hoti Hotéis group’s behalf, to develop the best concept for “The Most Portuguese Hotel in the World”. According to Manuel Proença, Hoti Hotéis group President, “for some time now we thought we would develop a concept that could convey the definition of what it means to Be Portuguese to the rest of the world. We wanted to participate in a project that demonstrated this concept through moments, feelings and experiences. When the AIP Foundation came up with the proposal for “The Most Portuguese Hotel in the World”, we didn’t hesitate and we are very eager for the final result”.

According to Fátima Vila Maior, FIL Fair Director, “‘The Most Portuguese Hotel in the World’ is a reflection of Alimentaria & Horexpo Lisboa 2017’s new strategic stance, which has Innovation as its main theme and a focus directed towards The Quality of National Production. This project, which is going to create several hotel unit spaces at the fair, aims to highlight the innovation, creative process and excellence of Portuguese products, with results in the quality of the national tourism it offers».

The initiative began with a challenge launched by FIL to a particular group of creatives (Architects and Interior Designers with projects in the hotel and accommodation requalification sector) to create an exhibit that showcased the excellence of Portuguese products, the importance of the creative process and the hiring of professionals in the handling of the interiors of the various existing and emerging tourist sectors in the Portuguese and international market (hotels, hostels, villages, home-stay tourism, rural tourism, among others).

Through the newly created partnership, Hoti Hotéis will subsidise the prize for the competition that will take place from 4 to 6 June at Alimentaria & Horexpo Lisboa, at FIL, where six architects and designers will present their vision of a 100% ‘Made in Portugal’ hotel. The public and project promoters will vote on these projects and the winner will join this partnership together with Hoti Hotéis and AIP. Among the six designers who will develop “The Most Portuguese Hotel in the World” are Alexandra Madeira, Carla Gago, Patrícia Catalão, Margarida Burgarim, Sónia Rodrigues and Inês Cesteiro, from the duo Às Duas Por Três and Conceptual Development and Coordination by Joana Beirão.

The two “Most Portuguese Hotel in the World” hotels to be created by the Hoti group will be four star superior and have at least 100 rooms.

Established in 1979, the Hoti Hotéis group is a hotel chain with 100% Portuguese capital and is ranked as the 6th largest group with a national presence and the 2nd largest to offer hotel management services.
